EA FC 27 player roles guide: Role+ and Role++ explained
What player roles are, what + and ++ mean and how to use them in your tactics.
Roles are a layer of FC 27 Ultimate Team that sits on top of a card's position. There are 30 of them, from Poacher and Target Forward up front to Ball-Playing Defender and Sweeper Keeper at the back, and each card carries some of them at one of two tiers.
A card plays a role at + (familiar) or ++ (expert), and only in the positions it has. Read the role on the card, not just the rating: a Box-to-Box midfielder and a Holding midfielder can share a position yet be built for different jobs. Pick the role that matches the way you attack or defend, then prefer ++ over + when two cards are otherwise close.
Worth learning if you build squads around a style. Check the role tier before you buy or complete an SBC, because two similar cards can behave differently.
